7 Key aspects of a web design (for inquisitive)

We realise a lot of businessmen do not have time to get into the details of programming (and it's nothing wrong!). Especially for them we prepared the description of 7 key factors, which have to be well-thought before constructing a good website. Remember that a badly prepared website will not make any profit, on the contrary it will generate unnecessary costs.

1. First impression after loading a website

If you read this text, then you're in a group of 15% of our website users. We have approximately 5 seconds to make a good impression. Then a potential customer decides if your business is worth his notice. If from the very beginning you make a positive impression, your chances for conversion increase. We explained what conversions mean in point 2.

2. Customers interactions (conversions)

Let's start from an explanation of what conversion means. It is the anticipated action of a potential customer. This is best explained on the example. The potential customer visits a website and completes the form, sends the request for pricing, calls the company or uses live chat. Each of the actions mentioned above is conversion. The role of the web designer is to create such a project that maximises the number of conversions. Do you have any questions about web design? Leave your number and we will call you back.

3. Responsiveness

In 2019, around 78% of the Internet traffic was caused by using mobile devices. If a website cannot open correctly on mobile devices, its owner is exposed to loss of his potential customers, who will presumably choose competing offers. Remember that a website has to be tested on various latest mobile devices (and others). Its display is influenced by, selected device size, the browser (e.g. Safari, Chrome, Opera, IE) or operating system (iOS, Android, Windows) and others.

4. SEO optimisation (Search Engine Optimisation)

Without sufficient optimisation your website cannot appear on the first page on Google. How does it work? Robots index data collected from websites and save them in a database. Collected data are scrutinised according to an algorithm designed by Google specialists. At present the positioning is predominantly determined by the amount of special content and the frequency of its updating on a website. (the more, the better). One of the most essential elements of SEO is putting chosen keywords in correct headings on a web design - h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6.

Be aware that local positioning (e.g. web designs London) is simpler because of fewer competitors. Within popular services it is burdensome and time consuming to appear in TOP 10 in England, but it is still possible. Next substantial element to consider are links to your own web design. They can come either from your or some other web design, preferably of the similar theme.

5. Sources of website traffic

There are numerous sources of website traffic. Depending on specifics of the industry, you may use only some of them. At your disposal there are: natural search engine results (SEO and positioning), paid search engine links (Google Ads - formerly AdWords), banner ads on other websites (Google Ads), YouTube ads (Google Ads), entrances to the web design on the recommendation (word of mouth, your clients' facebook, business cards), access to the website from social media (profile of your business).

6. Analysis of visitor's behaviour

The majority of web designs users familiarise concisely with their content. This thesis can be confirmed, for instance in Google Analytics and in other "tracking " tools. On their basis we can accurately determine, among others, sources of visits, span of visits on individual tabs of the web design, number of conversions, geolocation of visitors. The analysis of visitor's behaviour is the basis of web design improvement. Do you think that numbers are not enough? For the most demanding clients we are ready to prepare a script that saves video recordings of the users browser window on the web design.

7. Website maintenance and security

There are many programmers, who do not recognise the substance of the server, on which website or web app are placed. We draw our attention to efficiency and safety of components depending on the kind of project. However, due to comprehending well this issue, specialised knowledge about SysOps and DevOps is required, which you don't need to have. Universal issues to consider are the amount of disk space, the regularity of making independent backup copies of files and the database (optimally if such a copy is created daily), the cost of restoring the backup of files and the database (preferably if it is 0 GBP).
