7 Key aspects of a web design (for inquisitive)

We recognise many entrepreneurs may not have enough time to get into details of programming (and it's nothing wrong!). Especially for them we created the description of 7 key aspects, which have to be taken into consideration before creating a good web design. Remember that a badly prepared website will not bring you any profit, on the contrary it will be an unnecessary expense.

1. First impression after loading a website

If you read this text, then you're in a group of 15% of our website users. We have approximately 5 seconds to make a good impression. Then a potential customer decides if your business is worth his notice. If from the very beginning you make a positive impression, your chances for conversion increase. We explained what conversions mean in point 2.

2. Customers interactions (conversions)

At the beginning let's explain what conversion is. It is the expected action of a potential customer. This is best illustrated on the example. The potential client goes to a website and completes the form, sends the request for estimation, calls the company or uses live chat. Each of the actions mentioned above is conversion. The role of the website creator is to prepare such project that maximises the number of conversions. Do you have questions about the website? Leave us your phone number. We will call you back.

3. Responsiveness

In 2019, about 78% of internet traffic was generated by using mobile devices. If a website cannot be displayed correctly on mobile devices, its owner may lose his potential customers, who will presumably use some other competing offer. Remember that a website should be tested by its designer on each kind of the latest mobile devices (and not only). The display of web design is influenced by, among others, the size of the chosen device, the kind of browser (e.g. Safari, Chrome, Opera, IE) or operating system (iOS, Android, Windows).

4. SEO optimisation (Search Engine Optimisation)

Your website won't appear on the first page on Google without accurate optimisation. How does it work? Robots index data collected from websites and retain them in the database. Gathered data are scrutinised according to an algorithm created by Google experienced programmers. At this moment the biggest impact on positioning has, among others, the amount of unique content and the frequency of its update on a web design (the more often, the better). A very substantial element of SEO is to put chosen keywords in correct headings on a website - h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6.

Consider that local positioning (e.g. websites Coventry) is easier because of less competition. In case of popular services, it is hard and time consuming to appear in TOP 10 England, but it is still possible. The second essential element, which should be well-thought are links to your web design. They may come both from other web designs or your own web design.

5. Sources of website traffic

There are various sources of website traffic. Depending on specifics of the industry, you may select only some of them. You can choose from: natural search engine results (SEO and positioning), paid search engine links (Google Ads - formerly AdWords), banner ads on other websites (Google Ads), YouTube ads (Google Ads), entries to the website on the recommendation (word of mouth, your clients' facebook, business cards), access to the page from social media (your company's profile).

6. Analysis of visitor's behaviour

Wide range of websites users are only concisely acquainted with their content. Validation of this thesis can be found, for instance in Google Analytics and in many different "tracking" tools. Because of them we can accurately specify sources of visits, duration of visits on individual tabs of the web design, number of conversions, geolocation of visitors and others. The scrutiny of visitor's behaviour is the basis of web design development. Do you think that numbers are not enough? For highly demanding customers we can make a script that saves video recordings of the users browser window on the web design.

7. Website maintenance and security

Many programmers still do not realise how significant is server, on which web design or web app are located. We focus on both efficiency and security of components depending on the project's type. However, to comprehend this aspect properly, you need special knowledge about SysOps and DevOps, which you don't need to have. The amount of disk space, the frequency of making autonomous backup copies of files and the database (preferably if such a copy is created daily), the cost of restoring the backup of files and the database (optimally if it is 0 GBP) are universal aspects, which should be considered.
